...a Baby Boy is on the way!!!! :)
This post is longgg overdue.
So, after 6.5 years of marriage, Saurabh finally got his turn to being right about something! ;)
On Monday, 8/16 at approx 4pm, I found out that I'm going to be having a baby boy :) We almost thought we wouldn't make it to the appointment - there was bumper to bumper traffic on 75, and I was freaking out that I may have to wait another week to find out! But, thankfully, traffic cleared and we made it right in the nick of time. My parents, MIL and Saurabh were inside the room during the ultrasound. It was an awesome experience seeing the little one after so long! The cutest thing was that he was sitting there with his hands folded (which, what we interpreted, as praying!). The tech showed us the head...the arms...the hands...the feet...the legs...then back to the head...and my dad said outloud: ok, can you now tell us what's between the legs?! Everyone started laughing. I'm sure the tech was thinking we were so excited to know the gender that we weren't paying attention to the fact that the baby is normal; well, we took for granted and knew everything is normal, which it was/is. But, the excitement to know the gender, was prevalent in each one of us (except the tech, obviously).
My mom was probably the most excited person in the room - she really wanted the baby to be a boy, and I'm glad that she got her wish. Baby, when you're old enough to read this, just know - you're here because of your Naani's wish: there is no one that wanted a boy more than her! As I said in an earlier post, we were all going to be happy with either gender, but my mom wouldn't even let anyone utter that it would be a girl. Her reasoning was, that she has had 2 daughters and would love to have a baby boy of her own.
My MIL was confident from day 1, even before I was showing, that it would be a boy. Saurabh, I would say, was pretty confident but he had his moments of doubt. However, my MIL would just always say: "I have a feeling it's a boy." Guess she has the natural touch of correctly predicting!
So...YAY! It's a BOY :) Now on to the fun stuff...planning for HIS arrival :)
Lately, I've been feeling my son (!) moving around so much more, especially when I lie on my back. I always place Saurabh's hand on my tummy, and even if he kicks, which I def feel has 'hard' on the inside, Saurabh can barely tell. Boo. I wish he could feel it too. But, I'm sure as days go on, he'll be able to feel it as well.
Cravings...well, not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm not averse to anything...which makes anything, fair game ;) But, I do like eating chicken/eggs...and my sweet tooth is also very prominent: I wish I could buy an entire bakery and have cupcakes everyday!!! ;) But, I'm trying to limit my intake of food. I don't want to overeat and gain too much weight; I just want to be gaining normally for my stage of pregnancy. The doc did tell me I'm at a normal weight right now, as is my little one, so I'm doing something right! I'm usually getting my extra calories by having a small piece of cake or an extra glass of milk. I hope the baby loves milk as much as I do :) I know some kids don't drink milk, but I'm sure if he is like either of his parents, he will love milk. Speaking of cravings, something I'll never forget...1am this morning, I told Saurabh I'm craving waffles from Waffle House, so he took me there. YUM. I have such a great hubby :)
I do feel as if I've gotten a lot of my energy back. I remember how tired I felt during my first trimester; I would literally feel exhausted by 11am! But now, thankfully, I don't need those short naps during the day. I do lie down after work though...but the severe exhaustion I would feel is no longer there. I still do have the lower back pain and my feet also now hurt if I've been cooking in the kitchen, but again, no point in complaining because these things are normal. Seriously, I'm blessed, since I know many women who have had it much worse!
At around 21 weeks I went to NH and no one could tell I was pregnant, due to the loose clothes I had been wearing. I will post an album of my pics taken during the course of my pregnancy, as well as the ultrasound pics, after the baby is born.
I've started week 23 today! I can't wait to see my baby boy. After I found out, it has been all about preparing for his arrival...namely, the BABY REGISTRY :) I feel like Babies R' Us has become my new home!!! I've dragged Saurabh there literally 20 times lol. Pooja also accompanied me once, helping me choose all the necessities, and guiding me to the items that I really need vs. those that will only be used for a couple of weeks that we can live without. It's so good to have experienced parents friends!!! So the past 2 weeks have been spent choosing cribs, crib bedding, swings, bouncers, play gyms, pack n' plays, and all that good stuff. As far as the color of the room, I'm sort of anti-blue though. I feel that blue is so stereotypically "boy"...so, for me, green is the new blue!
We do have a name picked out :) But, are still open for suggestions! Nope...will only publish the name after the baby is born...hey, there should be some element of surprise!!!
I feel so much more at peace knowing the gender...I feel like there is so much to get done, and only a few short months left til my little one will be HERE! I literally get goosebumps thinking about him. I CAN'T WAIT! :)
Love you, mera beta!!! (my son!)
